Dust to Dust is a competitive, deckbuilding and disintegration card game that rewards you for removing cards as you play, pushing you to find powerful combos with a streamlined deck.

Each game, you’ll play a Diver racing to recover lost relics that can keep your floating island aloft. But you’ll need allies to save your home. Who will you recruit to win?

Development

Spencer Swan created Dust to Dust so he had a game to play with his old trading card game team and other friends who missed building decks for tournaments. Inspired by games like Slay the Spire and Dominion, he set an ambitious goal: build a set of elegant game mechanics players find through card interaction, all wrapped up in a compelling, cohesive art style.

Spencer found illustrator, Bonny John, through the team’s eventual Creative Director, Will Paybarah, to fill the world of Dust to Dust with colorful characters. Together, they worked on card by card through the pandemic. The team drew thematic inspiration from the brightness of Studio Ghibli films, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Castle in the Sky, and fused them with the hidden lore of the Dark Souls game series. 

The team is set to launch a Kickstarter for the first edition print run of Dust to Dust this coming Summer, 2021. Their goal is to fund the first edition print run the game and ship them to card players across North America.
